116. Sobila - (Kh. al-Zubalah)

Shoval is supposed to be the name of a biblical place in this area, preserved on the Madaba Map in the form of Sobila (Swbila) and in Arabic, as Bir Zaballa. The name Shobal (Shoval) appears as a private name in I Chronicles 1,38, 40 and is connected with Bir Zaballa preserved by the Arabs.

This village is attested only on the Madaba map. It is identical with Hirbat az- Zubala, about 22 km west of ad-Dahariya and 23 km south of al-Faluja.
