31. Petra in the land of Edom, also Iechtoel, also Rekem,
where Amasias defeated Edom in Gemela-
(Petra ?)

At the edge of the mosaic, south of river Zared and on the right of the inscription Sared, two and a half black letters are visible.

Gemela. Region of Edom. Aquila and Symmachus translate 'valley of salt'. (Eusebius, Onomasticon 72:28-29; Jerome 73:28-29)
