69. Nicopolis - ('Amwas-Emmaus)

The city seems to be walled up, three or more towers, some gates, a peculiar building, a central basilica and other two churches.

Emmaus (Luke 24:13), whence was Cleopas who is mentioned by the Evangelist Luke. Today it is Nicopolis, a famous city of Palestine. (Eusebius, Onomasticon 90:15-17; Jerome 91:22-23)
