The General Secretariat for the Christian Schools in Palestine held on the Grounds of The Freres School at Beit Hanina, the second Sport Festival for the Christian schools in Jerusalem on the 5th of May 2005, the members of this General Secretarial include Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, and Coptic Orthodox schools. The motto of the Festival was:" May our meeting become like a lamp shining in a dark place" which was said by Pope John Paul II on his visit to the Holy Land.
Around 2000 participants attended the festival. This included students, school directors, teachers, parents, religious from different churches, Mr. Amer Abu Shams, the general director of the Ministry of Youth & Sport, Mr. Hatem Abdil Qader the member of the PLC, and a number of Christian and Islamic personalities.
This festival was the outcome of the activities that were done during this academic year 2004-2005 for the Male and Female schools. Football, basketball, Ping-Pong etc., was supervised by the sports teachers who worked very hard to make it a success.
During the Festival Fr. Abdel Masih, Manager of the General Secretariat for the Christian Schools in Palestine, talked about the theme of the festival and thanked the sponsors and the sports teachers.
Dr. Bernard Sabella gave a talk to the parents, telling them about the importance of having gatherings for school activities which support and reinforce our society.
